Review: Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder in Lavender

This powder is cooling, refreshing, and soothing powder which is effective in relieving itching, prickly heat rash, and skin irritation from the hot weather.

To be used after bath as an antiseptic and absorbent dusting powder.

Scent of lavender makes you feel fresh and relaxed.

My Review:
Pros:
  • Reduces the itch from the rashes
  • Cooling effect prevents heat rash
  • Good for everyday use
Cons:
  • Lavender smell could be a little overwhelming
  • Inhalation of talcum powder in general is bad for the lungs of babies
Overall: Rashes cant leave my baby alone, its like a constant battle that I'm facing most of the time. Blame the heat! His heat rash comes out all the time, we're kinda getting used to it. I know that Talcum is bad for babies as it contributes to asthma and all other lung problems in the long run so I make sure that if I get a powder, it better work! Snake brand is the one I reach to after his bath and if he needs to be refreshed, specially if I see his naughty hands scratching away!

Rating: 4/5

Tips: Try and change your fluffy powder duster to a flat one so the powder particles won't be easily inhaled by your baby. Block his nose when you are applying on the neck or his chest.

Will I repurchase?: Yes

Recommended age: 0+

  • Wipes are always fresh because there's a top hard cover
Cons:
  • Smell could be overwhelming
  • Wetness of the wipe stays on the skin
  • Gave rashes to Baby yo.
  • Since it could be use for meals, it could be perfect if its anti-bac
Overall: This wipes is not bad but it gave baby yo a rash. I feel that i need a wipe that has fragrance when Baby yo poops so that the smell could be masked out. However, fragrance free is still the best because it may contribute to the breaking out of rashes.

Tips: Buy your wipes in bulk to get cheaper discounts since you're gonna be needing it alot and would end up repurchasing. Test out the wipes to see if he breaks out with rashes. This will determine if your baby is suitable to the wipes.

Will i repurchase?: No because it gave my baby rashes.

Review: Pigeon Liquid Cleanser

The PIGEON Bottle Nipple & Vegetable Liquid Cleanser is the ultimate natural cleanser and is essential for baby's health. Tried and tested by mothers all over the world, it has proven to be highly effective in killing bacteria found in milk. Made from 100% food grade ingredients, it is safe and effective for cleaning baby accessories, such as bottles, nipples, pacifiers and toys, and is even suitable for  washing fruit and vegetables.

Excellent Cleanser with Anti-Bacterial Features
It is not adequate to wash the nursing bottle with water alone. Made from edible carbohydrate delivatives, PIGEON Liquid Cleanser is suitable for washing the nursing bottle because it is able to remove fats and proteins, which causes dirt. PIGEON Liquid Cleanser is a much stronger wash than regular detergent commonly found in kitchens.

Safe for Fruits and Vegetables
Apart from keeping baby's toys and accessories clean, the cleanser can be used to wash fresh produce as well. Made from edible carbohydrate derivatives, the cleanser is great for keeping baby's accessories squeaky clean and is safe for fruits and veggies as well. It is recommended to wash fruits and vegetables before consumption while pregnant because it effectively sterilizes the fresh produce by removing agricultural chemicals.
Gentle on Skin
There is no need to worry about dry skin as the cleanser foams lightly and rinses off easily, and works to protect the skin.

Sizes Available: 200ml ,450ml, 700ml, 700ml(refill)

My Review:
Pros:
  • Gentle on skin
  • A little goes a long way
  • Effective cleaning
  • Takes out the smell of milk from the bottles
  • Washes all baby items for meal time even fruits and vegies
  • Smell is not overwhelming
  • Anti-Bac
Cons: None
Overall: A "must buy" item in our grocery list! I'm doing the washing for all Baby yo's feeding items, so I know that a little goes a long way. I always make sure that I wash his bottles squeaky clean because I'm very scared of a bacteria illness that Baby yo might get. This is great for that because my mind is at ease that "Kills 99.9% of Bacteria" is said on the bottle.

Rating: 4/5

Tips: Washing baby's items with water alone is not enough at all, There are always bacteria everywhere and if you're gonna wash it, it means that the baby might put it in his mouth so always remember to add on that liquid cleanser. You should not forget that the average dishwasher cleanser is not suitable for babies and should invest on cleansers safe for babies with anti-bac properties.

Will I repurchase?: Yes

Advice:Top 5 Baby Ailments & How to Handle Them

(this picture was taken when baby yo had a fever after his vaccination, yet he is still happy!)

This is the scariest part of being a mom, I always pray for good health for my family, specially for my one and only baby. Luckily he only had suffered minor ailments that could be treated easily. Though being ill is common for babies, we should always know how to relieve them and treat some of the symptoms before it gets full blown.

1. Constipation & Diarrhoea:
  • If constipated get her some exercise by moving her legs in a circular motion as if he is pedalling towards his tummy. Give his belly a massage, gently but firmly specially below the navel.
  • Cut down on foods that may trigger both constipation/ diarrhoea.
  • Apply aloe vera gel near the opening of his anus to relieve soreness
  • Call your doctor immediately for advice
2. Congestion (Cough & Cold):
  • Make sure baby gets plenty of rest and liquids
  • Use saline spray and suction
  • Try to use a soft wipe for the nose to reduce irriation
  • Moisten the air
  • Try letting him sleep where his head is more elevated
  • Rub his chest with Soothing balm
3. Rashes
  • Make sure you change your baby's diaper as often as possible if he has a diaper rash
  • Apply some healing ointments for the affected areas
  • Try using a prickly heat powder
  • Always keep it dry
  • Use barrier ointment if the area is always prone to rashes e.g. diaper area, neck, folds of skin
  • Do not wear tight clothing
4. Ear Infections
  • Keep your baby up to date with his vaccinations
  • Keep your baby away from tobacco smoke at all times
  • Keep ear clean at all times
  • Prevent water from entering baby's ear
5. Vomitting
  • Do not wait till baby is dehydrated, offer as much fluids as you can
  • Slowly re-introduce solids
  • Burp him often
  • Do not be too active on him after his meals
What other ailments scares you? Do you have better ways in handling these ailments? Let me know!
Disclaimer: Always seek medical help if your are unsure of your baby's situation, These are just my opinions and suggestions based on previous experiences and research.

Review: Drapolene Cream

My Pharmacy Singapore Review:
For the treatment and prevention of nappy rash and nappy redness. Drapolene Cream will also provide soothing relief for minor burns and wounds. The specially formulated cream is easy to apply and will not block the action of one-way nappy liners or disposable nappies.

Indication:
For the prevention and treatment of nappy rash: Apply Drapolene Cream evenly at every nappy change, paying particular attention to the folds of the skin. For minor burns and wounds: Apply liberally to the affected area as necessary. It is important to ensure that the affected area is dry and free from all traces of soap.

My Review:
Pros:
  • light on skin
  • not bad as a barrier cream
  • fragrance is not overwhelming

Cons:
  • pink colored cream may transfer to clothes and beddings
  • Does not prevents diaper rash
  • Does not treat diaper rash

Overall: I got this as a present for my baby shower so I was happy to give this a try. For 55g, its quite much to use.

However, this is not suitable for my baby because he had some urinary and diaper rash which was not prevented and treated like what it claims to be.
Rating: 2/5

Tips: Apply barrier creams thinly so that skin can breathe. Try to apply barrier creams after each nappy change.

Will I repurchase?: Nope!

Review: Nuk Baby Wipes

My Review:
Pros:

  • Extra thick and strong so poop don't transfer to your fingers
  • Extra soft on baby's bum
  • Fragrance free
  • Reseal-able pack
  • Can be used for fresh-up wipes
  • Size: 18.0cm x 20.0cm
  • 80 wipes per pack
  • Comes in mini size pack for 10pcs

Cons:

  • No hard top cover for better freshness

Overall: I have tried the most popular ones like pigeon, Johnsons and huggies but this is my favourite so far. Its funny cause I have to think twice when I wanna buy other brands cause I know i'm just asking for trouble when i know that he will get rashes if I switch to other brands. The thickness is nice because the poop doesn't leak through which is gross cause you'll hand will have poop and the smell of it lingers!

Rating: 5/5

Tips: Always remember to close the seal to maintain freshness. Use wipes case to store wipes when travelling out of the house to lessen the bulk in the bag

Will i repurchase?: Yes!
